Researcher (Nuclear Instrumentation)
This role will involve undertaking research in areas relevant to nuclear instrumentation and hydrocarbon resource recovery to investigate the potential of radiation-based methods to improve the recovery of oil from established hydrocarbon reserves.
The position will combine experimental, modelling and scale-up activities in the nuclear instrumentation field.
The successful candidate will have experience of radiation modelling (such as Monte Carlo or GEANT4) and radiation detection instrumentation. Experience of working within an academic-industrial collaboration in the field of applied nuclear instrumentation would be a distinct advantage.
A first degree and or a PhD in a relevant field to nuclear instrumentation, such as applied physics, electronic engineering, Computer Systems is essential for this role. Candidates without a PhD are invited to apply but, they must have relevant equivalent industrial experience.
Experience of radiation detection instrumentation, nuclear experimentation, radiation modelling and related system design/integration are an essential requirement for this role.
The role is initially a two year research role and may very occasionally involve travel within the UK and internationally.
