IT Support Officer
A new opportunity has become available for an IT Support Officer within a leading technology company. The company which is centrally based within the North East has easy access from the A19 and A1 road networks, and offers an excellent opportunity to make an impact into the sites operation.
As an IT Support Officer you will provide comprehensive support to the optimisation of business systems and processes for the benefit of business operations, by provision and coordination of key IT support, analysis and provision of systems based solutions, streamlining of work processes, the development and training of staff in key business systems, and to coordinate site based projects and fully participate in Group IT initiatives.
To succeed in this role candidates would be expected to have
• recognised commercial experience within an IT support and development capacity and preferably have Knowledge of manufacturing systems.
• Proficient skills in Microsoft applications, Lotus Notes, Windows and with an in depth knowledge of computer hardware.
• Problem solving skills, good communication, planning and organisation skills and a proactive approach are essential requirements for this role.
Principal Job Accountabilities
• To provide the site with a primary technical support in conjunction with the work carried out by Group IT
• To provide local IT support for the sit Operation, specifically in the provision of proactive support for 1st and 2nd line issues in accordance with Group IT protocol and procedures
• The key activities include 1st line responsibility for network passwords, allocation of desktops provided by Group IT and the resolution of hardware issues. 2nd line support would include the responsibility for laptop/desktop build and hardware/software upgrades.
• Overall facilitation of a service first approach in line with Group IT ethos
• Analyse business systems and processes in use and recommend improvements
• Provide technical support to the site in conjunction with 3rd Party support partners and manage support contracts in a cost effective manner.
• Eliminate business risk by protection of data and assets.
• Be actively involved with the planning of infrastructure and system changes congruent with business plans for the site.
• Train and develop users with specific reference to Business Planning, Enterprise Resource and Legacy systems.
• Optimise use of IT and telecommunications systems to the benefit of the business operations
This role is initially fixed until November 2010 but likely to extend beyond this point.
