An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic, and creative Mathematical Physicist to work in the product development team of an innovative and growing Technology company at their site in the North East of England.
In this role you will apply physical and mathematical skills to projects for clients in the Oil, Gas and Chemicals industries. The successful candidate will be involved in delivering insights from unstructured process plant data and working closely with clients to bring real value to their processes. They will also design, model and conduct experiments, build prototypes and be involved in field trials for novel industrial sensors.
Interested candidates should hold a PhD or Master’s degree in Physics or Applied Maths, the successful candidate will be a creative thinker who can demonstrate prior success in the application of physics and data analysis skills as well as an enthusiasm for the role and an acute mind for problem solving.
Alongside your academic achievements being able to demonstrate further understanding in the fields of mathematics, statistics, physics or computer science would be advantageous. Prior industrial/internships/project experience is also strongly recommended.
Candidates should possess excellent mathematical and programming skills.
o Capable of working with large quantities of unstructured data and delivering meaningful results to customers.
o Experience in applying statistics and signal analysis to real work problems.
o Experience in analysing data with MATLAB, Python or R etc.
o Experience in working with Neural Networks and Machine Learning to understand complex data sets.
o Experience in working with Microsoft Azure cloud services preferable.
o Experience in analysing industrial data sets preferable.
Possess solid experimental skills
o Capable of designing and performing experiments to test ideas.
o Capable of finding practical engineering solutions.
Have good people and leadership skills
o Able to interact with customers to understand where we can add value to their operations.
o Able to interact with the development team and wider business to solve problems.
