We have an exciting opportunity for a New Business Development Fuels Technologist at a world-class chemical company based in Oxfordshire. The ideal candidate will come from a strong Chemistry background with formulation experience and knowledge of additives in lubricants and fuels.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Work on New Product Development and Research projects
  • Take all projects from Synthesis and Evaluation through to full commercialisation
  • Participate and lead project teams to develop next generation products in areas such as Cold Flow and Lubricity
  • Lead the project teams in delivering new commercial products to a wide range of markets
  • Contribute to innovative and creative solutions to formulation challenges
  • Design and develop new additives to solve a range of technical challenges in the fuel market
  • Supervise chemists to ensure additive performance test data is delivered to agreed timelines
  • Provide colleague mentoring and coaching
  • Liaise with Fuels Technology teams as well as Sales, Marketing and Industry

Ideal Skills and Qualifications:

  • PhD in Chemistry or Applied Sciences, or a relevant scientific discipline (or equivalent industrial experience)
  • Proven chemical industry experience in formulation and technology development activities, specifically in petroleum or additives
  • Strong track record in new business development, with the ability to innovate, adapt and evolve to a changing business context
  • Strong commercial acumen with customer/supplier-facing focus
  • Capability to manage own workload priorities and take initiative
  • Experience of project management and supervising
  • Strong multi-tasking, time-management and organisational skills
  • Strong drive to meet targets and timelines
  • As part of the role, a degree of travel is expected
