An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Fermentation Scientist to join a global CDMO based in Teesside. This innovative company produce biopharmaceuticals from microbial or mammalian cell cultures, and their products are used either in clinical trials or for commercial supply. Due to the company going through a period of exponential growth and rapid extension of their manufacturing abilities, they are looking to take on a novel team of scientists to enable them to keep up with the demand of their clients.

As the Lead Fermentation Scientist, you will lead the technology transfer of their projects into their brand new state-of the art manufacturing facility.

You will lead the new team within the manufacturing environment and will be responsible for ensuring that the EHS and GMP standards are continually maintained.

You will use your extensive knowledge of the manufacturing process to act as the primary manufacturing contact throughout the lifecycle of technology transfer and process execution.

This role is critical to increase the manufacturing capacity for the client and the successful candidate will be able to provide appropriate decision making in an ever-changing environment.

This is a unique opportunity with a vast scope for development and progression. The client is looking for highly motivated individuals with a great understanding of upstream and downstream manufacturing processes.

To be successful you will have;

  • A degree in biology, biochemistry, microbiology or relevant discipline
  • Experience of upstream and downstream (protein purification) processes
  • Experience with Microbial Fermentation – preferably large scale
  • At least 3 years’ experience working in a GMP environment
  • Line management/supervisory experience
